Weather in Patong, Phuket

  • Share:
In general, Phuket’s climate is steamy ranging from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius since it is near the equator.

High Season in Phuket Island starts from November and lasts until March. November is the transition month from wet season to dry season. This is the best time to visit Phuket specifically Patong Beach and any other beach in the region as the weather is not very humid at all.

This season is also known as the season of the cool northeastern monsoon wherein cool gentle wind is experienced in the Island. It is the peak period for all of the hotels and other business service establishments like restaurants, bars and other entertainment zones in Phuket wherein all are very busy and fully booked.

This is also the time when prices start to become outrageous. Slight rain showers during this period are expected during midday to afternoon. A good sign that will tell you if the high season has finally come is when umbrellas and sun beds start to reappear in the beaches. This happens sometime during late September.

The hottest period in the region is between the months of March to May when temperature reaches 32 degrees Celsius. This marks that rainy season is about to come.

Rainy season starts in the month of May until September or October. In Phuket, the average raining days in a year is 154 days. During the month of May, the whole island experiences heavy rains that usually last from minutes to hours and might cause some flooding among the lower areas in town. Aside from the month of May, September and October are the months in the year wherein you will not see most of the sun due to frequent rains or cloudy weather. Most of the hotels and establishments are neither busy nor fully-booked due to nonstop rains with thunderstorms and strong winds. Often, some businesses close during rainy season and start to operate again during high season.

Rainy season is considered as the low season in the region. But for locals, low season is a good time as restaurants, malls, and beaches are not populated with tourists and prices are considerably low. Temperature is also a bit agreeable as it ranges between 28-30 degrees Celsius and could be an appropriate time for sightseeing, engaging in Thai cooking classes, visiting temples, taking a relaxing massage and spa, watching movies, watching Muay Thai, enrolling in a fitness center, or engaging in other fun indoor activities.
